This is a top range screening for the over 40 age group which has been carefully designed to address the main health risks for this age group and focus on prevention and positive health as well as detecting the onset of chronic diseases. In addition to the range of tests in the executive medical it looks for early signs of heart disease with a formal exercise ECG test.
The consultation and testing time is 2 hours, 2 hours and 15 minutes if you are a woman and have a gynaecology check up. We ensure that the majority of your time is spent with the doctor, not with technicians. So you will have plenty of time to discuss all your health concerns.
- Medical Questionnaire — you will review this with the doctor to cover all aspects of medical and family history and lifestyle including diet and stress assessment
- Urine analysis
- Eyesight test - for distance, near and VDU vision, colour perception, stereopsis and peripheral vision
- Glaucoma testing
- Hearing test
- Lung function tests
- Height, weight, body mass index and percentage body fat measurements
- Tissue hydration
- Blood pressure
- Full medical examination with ample time for discussion of specific problems with the doctor
- Resting electrocardiogram (ECG)
- Dynamic stress ECG measuring blood pressure and ECG during exertion with computer analysis and subsequent review by a senior consultant cardiologist
- Blood analysis - 40 parameters including tests for anaemia, liver and kidney function, thyroid function, cholesterol and blood glucose
- Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) - as appropriate, to screen for prostate cancer
- Faecal Occult Blood (FOB) - as appropriate, stool test to screen for bowel cancer
- Chest x-ray - as appropriate.
For women a well-woman screen is incorporated and includes the following:
- Full gynaecological history
- Discussion of contraception, pre-conception counselling, hormone replacement therapy
- Breast examination and instructions on self-examination
- Pelvic examination
- Cervical smear (thin-prep)
- Endocervical swab for Chlamydia (as appropriate based on age and history)
- Mammography is optional at extra cost

After the medical you receive a full record of the results with an explanation of any abnormalities and advice on what to do next.
Easy to understand graphs are included together with an assessment of cardiac risk score. Follow up advice or discussion is available by telephone with the doctor you met.
If there is a problem onward referral is offered either directly or by liaison with your NHS GP.
